John William “Bill” Paul

6/14/1891-10/25/66

 

Born in Kittery, Maine. At age 25 years old he lived in Medford, Massachusetts. 

 

His WWI registration card (dated 1917) while living in Medford, Ma. He wrote that he had been a Non-Commisioned Officer with a US Artillery Company for 5 1/2 years. I suspect, this was anywhere from 1910-1917 time frame with perhaps the Massachusetts 101st Company L National Guard Unit. 

 

He was a machinist at Nelson Blower and Furnace Company in Massachusetts. 

 

He left Massachusetts to Brooklyn NY as a Linotype mechanic for Mergenthaler Linotype Company. He worked there for 10-12 years  until he moved to Rutland,Vt. He lived at 5 Kingsley Ave.

 

1928 He began working for the Rutland Herald as a Linotype mechanic and retired in 1961 after 33 years. 

 

1936-37 He was the President of the Scottish Rite in Rutland, Vt

 

1937-38 Post #31 American Legion Commander

 

10/25/1966 He died of Lung Cancer, he is buried at Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, Rutland, VT
