P. Joseph Franzoni

 

 

 

World War I veteran. Enlisted 12/14/1917-6/21/1919. Company A 318th Engineers. Overseas: 5/8/1918- 6/11/1919. 

He was born in Carrara, Italy.  

 

He was an active member with the Odd Fellows Organization

 

Elected Post #31 Commander 1935-36. He joined the post in 1919, but was not a charter member. 

 

He was active with the Drum and Bugle Corps. He started a fundraising campaign to send the Drum Corps to the National Convention in Ohio. Goal was $800.00

 

Post #31 Hosted National Commander J. Ray Murphy.

 

1937 Gallbladder emergency surgery, not expected to survive, but he did!!

 

1940’s spent time in the VA Hospital for pneumonia and other procedures.

 

Worked hard to secure all veterans completed and certified the War bonus applications with the town. 

 

The Sons of The American Legion began with the assistance of General Leonard Wing. Commander Maurice Earle Taylor became first squadron commander.
