Bernard Welch Flanders

Born in Coaticook St.,Canada.

 

World War I veteran serving in the Navy and stationed Portugal and Azores. 

 

 1919 Hired by the Rutland Railroad and he worked many levels to General Timekeeper of the Rutland RR supervising the entire payroll system. 

 

Member of the Pomona Grange

 

Post Commander 1933-34

 

1934 Birthday Supper celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the American Legion at Hotel Berwick.

 

Legion had a “Broadway Revue” cast members were Legionnaires. Fundraiser. Something new to the post. 

 

1930 Flanders encouraged veterans, widows to file all claims with the US for compensation to WWI veterans. April 1930 was the last day to file and he was working as Post adjutant 1929-1930.

 

1938 One of three scout masters for the Sea Scouts program for older scouting young men.

 

1953, after retiring, he moved to Clearwater, Florida. Buried inGrandview cemetery, Addison Corners.
