Earle Blaine Taylor

12/26/1891-12/16/1942

 

World War I veteran. Enlisted 8/28/1918-12/4/1918. Company B Tank Corps.

 

Native of Tinmouth he worked as a traveling salesman for the W.C. Landon Company. 

 

Member of the Marble City Council

United Commercial Travelors Grand Executive Committee

Masons Chipman Lodge of Wallingford.

Interesting articles for Earle with regards to The American Legion:

 

Rutland Airport Commission met and asked for recommendations to name the field. Cdr Taylor advocated for the Legionnaires by submitting “West Field” in memory of Prout West, the son of the city Post Master Charles West. Prout was a WWI pilot that died while fighting over France. Many prominent veterans of Rutland agreed. 

 

Scholastic awards were presented to Meldon Junior High School as 167 students graduated. Medals, certificates were presented to Yee Ton Zing and Rebecca Benedict. The awards were given for character, scholastics and leadership qualities. This reinforced the educational scholarship program. 

 

1938 He was elected the secretary for the Rutland County Past Commanders Club.

 

 

Earles cardiac health was complicated and  poor and at age 50 he died. Buried in North Clarendon Cemetery. 

 

 

Earle’s son Maurice E. Taylor was a Lt. Commander in the Navy, also the FIRST Sons of the American Legion Squadron #31 Commander.
