George Moroney was a World War I veteran. Served with the 806th Aerial Squadron highest rank Sergeant. Enlisted 12/8/1917-1/21/1919.

in the mid twenties George was elected as Alderman for the city of Rutland. He was elected to the Rutland board of assessors.

from 1927-1953 he was a Motor vehicle Inspector for the State of Vermont and the majority of Rutland residents received their motor vehicle license exams from George .

He was Department of Vermont Vice Commander in 1920's.

1924 Elected Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus, 1947 named Navigator of Washington Assembly 4th Degree of Knights of Columbus. 

He was also a member of the Rutland Elks Club and Eagles Club.

He was influential in stating the St Peter's Athletic Association, long before the Mt. St. Joseph school came to Rutland.

Born 7/1/1887, lived on 3 Royce Street. Funeral was held with honors from the Legion and Knights of Columbus  church, Christ the King, Rutland and he is buried at Calvary Cemetery.
