Barbara Bushaw born Jan 14, 1951, St Johnsbury, VT. Graduated from North County High School 1969. Entered Champlain College Law Enforcement 1 year; returned in 1996-98 with a Hosptality Degree. 

 

 

Vietnam US Army National Guard: Basic Training in Ft Jackson, SC; IADT: for 76P, 76Y which was supply, stock control and warehouse supply; E24 which was chemical MOS. Serving 21 years with Vermont National Guard retiring with rank of SSG. 

Originally joined Montpelier Post #3 and later, due to living in the Burlington Area, she became a charter member of Colchester Post #91. The post outgrew its small pizza house surroundings, outside of National Guard State barracks and moved its post to Colchester. In 2011, the post suffered a complete loss of property from a fire. Barb was the Commander at the time and her leadership and those around her,put up tents in the cold Vermont winter, and continued operations while the new post was being built. Her membership grew due to the community observing the perseverance of the membership and their love for the community, state and nation. 

 

Department Americanism Chairman 2004-05; Membership Chair 2006-2007 Special Note: (Barb was a great membership chairman. She rallied the troops in Vermont and even had a drive, that if you were last in membership, you had to kiss a pig. Well, on the presentation day, the pig got lose and everyone spent time casing the poor scare pig around a hotel.) This was enjoyable time and brought in a fun aspect to membership, never seen again!! Boys State President 2007-08;
