Leonard was born May 8, 1935 in Montpelier, VT and graduated from St. Michael's High School Class of 1953, Montpelier, VT. He attended University of Vermont, with interest in mechanical engineering. He worked for a short time with General Electric in Pittsfield, Mass. 

He served during the Korean War 1954-58; US Navy firefighter technician. 

Upon return from serving he worked for National Cash register Company and learned everything he could regarding the business. He forged out on his own and owned and operated Cashtronics in Barre, VT. for approximately 35 years. 

Leonard was extremely active with the BPOE (ELKS) of Barre, VT. He was their Exalted Ruler in 1972 and advanced to District level Exalted Ruler. He was very involved in their Americanism and Children and Youth programs (Baseketball coach, Hoop Shoot Coodinator). He even was awarded Elk Member of the year. 

He served one term as the Barre City Alderman. He was a member of the Canadian Club, Mutuo, VFW and 40&8. 

He served as Commander of the Barre American Legion Post #10 and finance officer. 

Department: 3rd District Cdr 2003-04; Northern Area Commander 2004-05; Senior Vice Cdr 2005-06; Department Commander 2006-07. 

He had served as Department Finance officer for several years and later the Department Assistant Finance Officer and mainstay on the finance committee. 

 

 

Leonard died Feb 9, 2020.
