Elwin Holland born July 5, 1942  North Adams, Massachusetts. Lived in Readsboro, VT. Graduated from Whitingham High School. 

Served in the US Army Vermont National Guard and Reserves. (PVT).

Worked at Deerfield Specialty Papers until 1984; He owned and operated Holland Wired TV company; Residential Instructor in the Development School for Retarded Children Until he was forced to retire from Medical Issues.

2000-2001 4th District Cdr; 2001-02 Southern Area Cdr; 2002-2003 Senior Vice Commander.

Department Commander 2003-04. His Commanders project was Special Olympics which started posts entering the Icy plunges across the state to raise money. Elwin was diagnosed with CREST Syndrome a form of scleroderma that made his year a physical challenge with extreme pain and fatigue. However, he was dedicated to the programs and projects of The American Legion and continued to suffer through miles of travels to visit posts and thank them for their service to our organization. 

Special Note: Elwin and his brothers had a band called the Holland Brothers!! They performed for many over the years and close friends still cherish their cassette tapes of music. 

He was a Boy Scout leader in Readsboro, member of the Lions Club and the Masons.

May 31,2006 He succumb to his disease and was buried with all the military and American Legion honors at the Readsboro Village Cemetery,
