Ron born September 29, 1940 in Montpelier, VT and grew up in Wilder, VT.  Served in the US Army during Vietnam era; he served in Karlsruhe, Germany as a heavy machine operator. In 1963 he married and in 1966 he settled down in North Hartland, VT. 

He was employed at the North Hartland Tool for over 40 years As a tool and dye maker. He was also Assistant deputy game warden for the area For 15 years. He was an avid hunter. 

He was Commander of White River Jct Post #26 and a Life Member. 

Ron loved Americanism and Children & Youth Programs. He served our Department as Boys Scout, Oratorical Chairman for many years. 

Ron has the distinction of being our "All Time High" Membership Chairman. No one has ever exceeded his goal to sign our veterans up to the great opportunity of serving others through The American Legion. Over 18,000 Legionnaires joined our ranks, due to his leadership and his humble, almost shy way of reaching out to others. His sincerity and honesty was real.

National Commissions or Committees: Children and Youth; National Security Council, Constitution and Bylaws.

 

Post Commander Post #26 Hartford, White River Jct. He was a member for over 40 years and his last 6 years were with Norwich Post #8, after Post #26 began to fail and they lost their post home. 

 

 

 

 

February 9, 2021 He died suddenly at home. He left behind his wife Connie and four boys: Brian, Ron, Peter and Jay. He was buried at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery Spring of 2021. (One week before his untimely death, Ron was a judge for Post #8 oratorical contest and helped inspire another student amongst so many)
