Don Sisco born November 12,1930 in Suffern,NY.
1950 Enlisted in the US Navy and served in aviation structural mechanic stationed on Aircraft carriers USS Roosevelt and USS Coral Sea. This Korean War veteran met his wife Mrytle, a Navy nurse, when Don was a patient in a Naval Hospital. 3rd class Petty Officer.
He worked at Lederle Labs and then transferred the family from NY to Vermont when he took a job with IBM, which he retired from in 1990.
49 year member of the American Legion:
Commander of Sloatsburg, NY post.
Commander of Mt. Mansfield Post #35 and service officer for years. Life member.
County, Distrct, Vice Commander, Membership Chairman.
Department Commander 1976-77.
National Executive Committeeman.
Don served on many committees within the Department of Vermont. He was well known for his dedication to VA&R and service to veterans. Also, his leadership and persistence legislativeply to achieve a Constitutional amendment in Vermont to protect our American flag from desecration in 2001.
He died November 23,2003 of small cell lung cancer. Buried in Cambridg, VT.
