Bob Vincelette was born September 9,1922 in St Albans,Vt. Age 19 he began working for the Central Vermont Railway.
He joined the US Marine Corps 10/30/1942 to 11/30/45. WWII veteran went to basic at Parris Island, NC for Baker and cook school.
Stationed in California, then sent with the 4th Marine Division overseas.Sent out in a rifle unit. He was shot in the left leg at Iwo Jima . His injuries so severe it was required an amputation. (March 4, 1945). He spent several months at Military Hospitals and was discharged Nov 30,1945.
He went back to work for Central Vermont Railway, where he worked for over three decades.
1964 Green Mountain Post #1 Commander.
District and Vice Commander
1971-72 Department Commander. He established the law cadet program while department Commander. Upon his death the program was named after him.
Chairman of the Vermont 40&8 Scholarship committee.
National Executive Committeeman
National Economic division for over 40 years.
Member of Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church
Bob died at his home in New Port Richie, Florida Jan 31, 2006.
A true leader that was never discouraged by his disabilities, they were challenges he and his devoted wife"Billy" made for each other.
