John R. Campbell Sr known as "Big John" born April 21,1908 in Morrisville and resided in Milton,VT

Joined the US Army May 30,1944 to Jan. 24,1946. Rank E5.

He owned and operated Campbell Construction Company. 

Milton Post #57 Past Commander and Life member.

Department Commander 1970-71. His wife was Dept. President 1969-1970 and NECwoman 1970-71.

His construction company brought him to many towns to live. He was Fire Chief and Town Manager of North Troy, moved to Milton and was on the Selectboard and Town Moderator and trustee.

Member of Masons, Shrine, International Firefighters Assoc, Scottish Rite, Past President of Assoc. of General Contractors and Vt Road Builders Assoc., Vermont Society of Engineers.  

 

He died of heart attack and bilateral stroke, complications of diabetes, on July 23, 1986.

His son Jack Jr. followed in his fathers footsteps as Town Moderator, owner and operator of Campbell Construction. He too was a veteran, but chose to become State of Vermont leader in the Masons.
