
Ray Greenwood was born Dec 3, 1906 in Warren, Vt and lived most of his life in Montpelier. (lived in Windsor as a youth).

Civilian occupation he worked until retirement with National Life Insurance Commpany.
60 yr member of Post #3 Montpelier. Past Post Commander 1951-52 he was extremely active in all inter workings of the post.

Department Adjutant, Finance officer, 43 yrs Children and Youth Chairman and Scholarships chairman. He was awarded 29 years consec for 100% reporting of Children and Youth by National. Department Chaplain.
National Children and Youth commission for decades.
He loved American Legion baseball. Rooted for Montpelier and Windsor teams with loyalty.
He was married to Martha for over 54 years. They were always together.
At the age of 90 The American Legion honored him for his service. He retired and mentered Linda Thayer as his replacement.
He died at home age 98 from natural causes. He is buried at Village Cemetary in Warren.
His favorite poem was the "Little Chickadee" found in the American Legion Chaplains Manual.
