DOB 7/11/20-12/28/77. Born in Hartland, VT 

Edward Giles WII Airforce Veteran. 1943 graduated from flight school and became a pilot. 1942-1952 Captain in the USAF Reserves.  He was the first pilot to fly the B17G Flying Fortress, served during Korea.

He was a member of Windsor Post #25. 1946-1949 He served as post adjutant and Commander. 

Civilian work: CVPS Central Vermont Public Service Windsor Division Sales Supervisor.

 1950 Department Adjutant when he was recalled to service with 2d Battalion and Regimental Adjutant for the 43rd Division.

1954 He ran against Ray Greenwood of Montpelier for Department Commander and won!! Dept. Commander at the State convention in Brattleboro, VT

1955-58 Assistant Adjutant General

1958 Americanism and Oratorical Chairman for Department of Vermont

1958 Served on the National Membership and Program and Activities Committee

1958-1977 He was promoted to BG and Commandant of the Vermont Veterans Home. He was instrumental in taking a 200 acre area with small wooden houses and turning into the nursing facilities that cared for our WWI and WWII veterans, male and female. 

He was the Vermont Chairman of the 50th Anniversary of The American Legion.

He died, a patient of his beloved Veterans home of a cerebral hemorrhage. He is buried in the Hartland Cemetery.
