Patrick Harold Mangan Jr. born in Rutland May 26, 1921, attended Rutland High School. 

1936 Charter member of the Sons of The American Legion.

 Salesman for the Beechnut Packing Company.

Woodstock Volunteer Fireman

Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS) Eastern Division Utilities Manager for 36 years. 

 1946-48 Assistant Athletic Director for Dept. of Vermont American Legion. Athletic Director for Post #31 Junior League baseball and its organizer.

1950 National Distinguished Guest Committee

Graduated from The American Legion Extension course (6 month Legion College Correspondence course)

1951 Elected unanimously Department Commander American Legion

Transferred to Brattleboro Post #5 due to the fact he was now working in Brattleboro for CVPS. 

Becomes National Vice Commander , relocated to Woodstock, VT, so Pat transfers back to Rutland Post #31 halfway through his year as National Vice Commander. 

House of Representative 1989-1992 

Memberships: Rutland School Board, President of Rutland United Way, President Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, Woodstock Green Mountain Boy Scouts Council, Director of the Governors "Children and Youth" Commission, Woodstock Rotary Club "Man of the Year, Woodstocks Green Up Project Chair, Board of Directors Green Mt. Economic Development Corps, Chairman of VT electrical association, Board of the Red Cross, Justic of the Peace and on the board for Civil Authority, Director of the Vermont Heart Association. 

Patrick experienced a heart attack while driving from Woodstock to Rutland. He died instantly. His loss was felt throughout the Woodstock and Rutland community, as well as, with The American Legion family. He was a man that believed in service before self.
