Norman Gray Knapp: Born in Elizabeth, NJ June 6, 1894; resided in Poultney, since 1916. He was a graduate of Worcester Academy, Massachusetts. Dartmouth College class 1918.
Inducted: May 2, 1918 in Fair Haven, VT; Ordinance Dep. Brigade. Discharged Dec 8, 1918. Sergeant. He served with Company C Chemical Warfare Division at Edgewood Poison Gas arsenal during WWI.
He came to Poultney in 1916 to manage the Gray Foundry, and was its President. Also President of the American Pipe Bending Machine Co.,Inc.

Chairman of the Poultney school board and vestryman of the Trinity Episcopal Church. Mason, Potentate Cairo Chapter, Rutland. Director of the Associated Industries of Vermont and the New England Council.
He was an appeals agent for the Fair Haven Draft Board.
He died age 68Feb 15, 1963. Pulmonary Fibrosis/Emphysema buried Pleasantview Cemetery, Middletown Springs, with his parents.
