Henry R. Wilcox born in Stockbridge, Mass May 24, 1895; family moved to Bethel, VT and he graduated from Whitcom HS in Bethel.
Enlisted June 5, 1917 Company H 1st VT Infantry, Company F 101st Ammunition Train Overseas 10/3/1917-1/6/1919. Diacharge on Feb 13,1919 as a Corporal. He remained in the Vt National Guard through WWII and was LT Colonel on discharge.
He was a Charter Member of the Martin Fales Post #43 in Randolph and later transferred and served as Service Officer for the Noble Beckwith Post andCommander.
He was a farmer until retirement in 1962.
Department Commander race was contentious. He ran against well known Simon Godfrey of St. Albans and won by a slim 3 vote margin.
1939 As President of Boys State program he was the incorporator for the program in 1938 and it became a standing and permanent committee because of the work and dedication of Donald Norton and Henry Wilcox. Their belief in the education of our young men would prevent communism from spreading around the globe. Henry was a patriot.

He died November 23, 1968 of natural causes and is buried in Bethel, VT
