Donald H. Norton born June 2, 1895 Vergennes, VT. He graduated from Vegennes High School 1912. 1913 Bordentown Military Academy; 1917 graduated from Dartmouth College.
He served in WWI and WWII 1916 US Army Reserves as a 2 LT ; 301st Inf and 163rd Infantry 8/15/1917 Overseas 7/6/1918 - 7/13/1919.He was discharged the rank of Captain.
Worked 1920- E.G. and A.W. Norton Business Associates with his family.
WWII: Continued with the US Army Reserves until retirement as a LTColonel.
1921-1929 and 1935-38: Board of Aldermann for Vergennes and the last 4 years as their civil engineer.
1938 Elected to the House of Representatives for Vergennes

1939 Camp Director for Boys State that was still in a Probationary Phase, had temporary status, Norton pushed to keep the program as a Standing, Permanent program for our youth.
Prior to Pearl Harbor attacks Donald wrote a bill warning Vermont that we must prepare for war. He knew the threat of communism was real and he feared we were not prepared.
