Charles N. Barber, DOB: 9/8/1884, in Barre, VT. Graduated from Spaulding High School. Attended Norwich University, where he was Captain of the football team in 1907. Graduated from Norwich 1908 with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. 

Enlisted 4/2/17 1st Vermont Infantry (57th Pion Inf.) Overseas 9/28/18-3/20/1919 Camp Wadsworth, France he was the Captain and Regimental Adjutant. 

Member of Sorrell-Maynard Post #63 in Northfield. 

1923 became Department Commander.  

1940-47 Director of Vermont Selective Service Department, (Awarded a certificate of Merit from President Truman).

United States Property and Dispursing Officer for State of Vermont for 17 years. 

Professor of Physics Norwich University

1934-1952 Treasurer of Norwich University, upon his retirement he recieved an honorary Doctorate. He also held the office of Supertendant of Building and Grounds.

1946 President of the Vt. Veterans Home Board of Trustees.

Former Commanding officer of the Vermont National Guard, however,When he failed the physical examination in the National Guard in 1941  the governor created the Vermont Home Guard units and he became a Colonel and the Commanding officer. 

After several failed attempts at the Vermont Legislature, he finally became Vermont House of Representative 1952.

He died 4/22/58 of a cerebral hemorrhage and is buried at Maplewood Cemetery in Barre, VT
