Cdr. Joseph  ZICHMUND

Joe’s father was a Korean War Era veteran and his grandfather stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-day. With many uncles who served, an older brother and sister who served, Joe was destined to spend time in uniform. Joe’s Army service included time in South Korea as well as Fort Gordon, Georgia. Honorably discharged in 1987, it was only a few years later that he joined the American Legion. Joe is married to his high school sweetheart who is the current American Legion Auxiliary President. Together they have 4 daughters (2 born during his enlistment) and 4 grandchildren. Joe enjoys his family time, volunteering at the Legion and riding his motorcycle. Joe is also the current Director for Post 10’s Central Vermont American Legion Riders. He and his wife reside in Barre Town. He is employed by Rock of Ages Corp as their National Director of Memorial Sales. Originally from a small town in the Midwest, he is enjoying his time in Barre.
