Cdr. Albert H. "Whit" WHITCOMB

(7 August 2018):

"To whom it concerned:  I was born in Plainfield, VT, on a farm that today would called (a) bed and breakfast.  My dad was boarding there and my mother was a domestic helper. I left high school when I turned 17 years old and went into the U.S. Navy.  Most of my time was spent in the Pacific.  (WW II)  Marshall Islands - Caroline Islands.  I joined the Legion - V.F.W.  I was Commander, Post 10 (in) 1975.  Then we didn't have the Old Gl;ory Lounge.  I like to think we put up new drapes and cleaned the original hall and made it more accepted by the ladies of members.  Membership was high and (we) had a lot of good help. I want to congratulate the present leaders for keeping the doors open. Your Comrade, Albert Whitcomb."
