Christmas Social Report

· During our Christmas Social we had a Special Presentation of Certificates of “Honor” from our Post to our Korean Veterans. If you could not attend we are sending them with this letter. You are the past and current members that we could find in our community that served this Great War. Known to history as the “Silent War”. Know that this War gave a great sacrifice to ur country with still thousands Missing in Action (MIA’s). We hope that you appreciate the gesture of our gratitude for your service. If you are not a member of our Post we still welcome you to renew, join us and recruit your friends. This list of Korean Veterans came from our National and Department Direct Mailing System Lists. We honor you and Thank you for your Silent Service. It is not un-Noticed.

· Thank you for your past and present support to The American Legion. As past members we Thank you and thank you for “Still Serving” as a member. Your support is recognized year after year on our reports to Congress through your membership and our Posts Consolidated Reports of volunteerism.

· Honorary Membership was presented to Jackson Howard for life long membership and support to the Post for over several decades of Service and Selfless Sacrifice. Thank you Jackson for your continued support.

· Initiation Certificates were given to all members attending the social as The American Legion Initiation was given to all new members and attending Members. Your Certificate of Membership Initiation may be enclosed in this letter. Thank you for your membership and commitment to our Post.

· A Drawing for Applebee’s and Brick Oven restaurants was given for $20.00 Each. We thank them for their sponsorship.

· In January – February we will be moving from the Eldred Center to a new location. We met with Brian Smith December 5th from the Parks and Recreation in Provo. In October the City was to Sunset all agreements with all Organizations at the Eldred Center. The Post responded and wrote a letter with relation to our Contract with the City. A Contract / Agreement we had when we moved from our Building at 100 North and 187 West in Provo, along with the Veterans Organizations of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Retired Officers Association (ROA). With that contract we felt that we should Grandfather to the new structure due to that Agreement Signed. No organizations will have access Agreements with the new facility. An Agreement is being reached and re-written to have space in the City Building for us due to our past history and agreement to live up to our Veterans contract with the city. We are negotiating so final arrangements have not been reached or agreed upon at this time of our letter; but with the support of the DAV and the ROA. We feel that we will have a better meeting location and Facility. This will be a great location with upgrade accommodations and status with support to electronically advertise our meetings, events and location. I will keep you informed of this as the process progresses. We want to thank the City Provo Parks and Recreation for their support to find us a new location. We want to Thank the Mayor, Mayor Curtis, the Mayors Office, City Council especially Council Woman, Laura Cabanilla, and the Veterans Council for their supportive response and consideration for this cooperative opportunity to work with our Veterans. (More to come when finalized)

· We want to recognize our Sponsors. We need your support to find more. With their support we are able to carry on with all our past and new youth programs. Any one who knows of potential Sponsors please contact the Commander so that we can send them a letter of sponsorship and offer them a place on our stationery for their support. (Anyone over $300.00) We would request all Post Members take Sponsorship Letters to distribute to Solicit new Sponsors. We have great plans for our youth to give recognition and financial support for participation in all our American Legions Youth Programs. For God and Country
