Subject: Membership
Reference: Quarterly News Letter
Membership is our major Goal, Role and Responsibility for the life of The American Legion Programs. We are looking forward to December to report to the Executive Committee on our Department’s Membership. As you are each aware, membership is the Life and Blood of The American Legion.
Department’s first responsibility is to you, our Veteran’s, and to our members at large. We The American Legion Family (Auxiliary, Son’s of The American Legion, (SAL) and Legion Riders) need your support to accomplish the Department’s goals through membership to provide for the financial needs to run our business and our Americanism Programs. Membership is in portion one of the reason we have the means and budgets for our Americanism programs, and to run everyday activities and provide the opportunity for the Department Commander, the Executive Officers, and National Executive Committee’s power to talk with our local, State and National leaders. Along with Membership the real power that our leaders have is in your Consolidated Reports that validate our importance as well as the documents to back why Senatorial and Congressional Leaders need us.
We want you to know how much the American Legion appreciates your membership, each and every one of you. We also know time is a valuable commodity. If you cannot serve in a leadership capacity in your local community, thank you for your membership. When time calls, and you can serve, I’m sure you will give it all you have.
After 40 years carrying mail and 37 years of Military Service, this year is my time to serve you after the many years you carried me by keeping the American Legion strong. Our time needs the devotion to, and time to, foster Membership Growth by Re-Newing, Retaining and Recruiting Members through your efforts. Together as a Legion Family we can provide Utah with the membership numbers our Commander and National leaders need in order to succeed on all levels of all programs. We the Utah Department, Area, District and Post Legion Family can be a national example by getting those membership quotas early.
To continue our momentum in the Membership Mission: (1) We Thank every Family Legion member for being a member; (2) We support every Veteran and want them to know we are there for them as a Family and Band of Brothers of Veterans (3) We understand our Veterans and know they have a life to live and that their family and work issues have to be resolved before they commit to any office in our Legion family; (4) We know how important it is that they stay active in their Post and how important they are to us so that we can keep them informed of their benefits that They have earned; (5) We also know that their membership is worth a lifetime of honor they have earned through service before God & Country, that they are honored, and their rights will be preserved though their membership by supporting our National Efforts and Goals.
We will also continue striving to let them know that they are protected with an accidental life insurance of $5,000 if in the event of accidental death in service of that membership. But that their Membership must be current.
To serve as your Department Vice Commander and be part of the Utah American Legion Family is an honor and privilege to walk in your midsts. Thank you for your Service. We ask that each Post work toward reaching your membership Quota by next National Target date Veteran’s Day, November 11th. We would like to concentrate on real American Legion Business and recruit the rest of the year to exceed our goals as never before and send to National a message that Utah is leading the membership goals and example for America.
A SINCERE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
