The Veterans Administration is formed after persistent pressure from The American Legion. Thus begins a permanent relationship between the veterans organization, representing the stakeholders, and the federal agency whose responsibility is to ensure efficiency, quality and timeliness of services for veterans.
Over the decades, the VA’s role will expand beyond disability benefits and health care. It will take up many of the GI Bill’s provisions after June 1944, including education, home and business loans.
