The pictures from the 1985 scrapbook had been damaged when the roof of the American Legion Post 539. The photos on this website are the pictures we were able to salvage from the photo albums.

Veterans' day Nov 11, 1985, (left to right) Gene G. Becker, chairman of the Veterans' Day Memorial Services and 2nd Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 539. Mr Becker holds the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Texas State Guard. Mr. Everett Alvarez, Jr. Deputy Administrator of Veterans Affairs, was the first pilot shot down in Vietnam and the longest held POW, and Mr. Thomas Costanzo, Director, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery and member of The American Legion Post 539
