TURNBOW-HIGGS American Legion Post 240 Commander Keith Fredrickson rang down the curtain on his remarkably successful consecutive 1-year terms (2024 & 2025) of office by opening Post 240 and Auxiliary Unit 240’s annual Awards and Officer Installation Banquet on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025. The event was attended by several guests, including 4th Division East Zone Commander Ray Coffee; District 17 Auxiliary President Susan Coffee; Past District 17 Auxiliary President and current District 17 Vice President and Chaplain Nancy Cobb; and Past Commander of Post 163 and current District 17 Chaplain John Cobb. During the awards portion of the event agenda, Commander Keith Fredrickson and Unit 240 President Martha Fredrickson expressed their thanks and appreciation for the continued support of Post and Unit 240 active members whose contributions of time and treasure were vital in achieving many of Post and Unit 240 yearly goals. The Commander formally acknowledged and commended the Post 240 officers for the 2024/2025 term from the podium: First Vice Commander, Frank Maddy; Second Vice Commander & Service Officer, Tim Tatom; Adjutant & Treasurer, Chris Grantham; Judge Advocate, Curtis Anderson; Sergeant at Arms, Sid Moon; and Members at Large, Willis Moon, Walter Dotson, and Bruce Delater. He then recognized the members of the Post 240 Honor Guard for 2024-2025: Officer in Charge, Tim Tatom; Sergeant in Charge, Sid Moon; and members Curtis Anderson, Walter Dotson, Chris Grantham, Frank Maddy, and JJ Conway. Commander Fredrickson concluded by expressing appreciation for the support provided by Unit 240, presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to Unit President Martha Fredrickson. Chris Grantham was then called to the podium where Commander Keith Fredrickson recognized him as the TURNBOW-HIGGS American Legion Post 240 Legionnaire of the Year for 2025. District 17th Commander, and Post 240 Adjutant, Chris Grantham, having taken the oath of office this past weekend, initiated his first official act as 17th District Commander by proceeding to recognize Post 240 with 2024-2025 Membership Awards received from Department to include: Post Retention – 90% or Greater from Previous Year; Membership Award / Streamer / Cap Pins (Commander and Adjutant) – Achieving or Exceeding 100% Post Membership Goal for 2025; All-Time High Award (3 years running) as of the 2025 Membership Year; Certificate of Appreciation / Letter / Photo from National Commander to Keith Fredrickson for achieving 100% of membership goal for 2025; Chris then presented American Legion Family Streamers to both Post 240 and Unit 240 in recognition of both groups' success for the previous year. 4th Division East Zone Commander Ray Coffee and District 17 Auxiliary President Susan Coffee, guests and event Installing Officers, continued the program by presenting numerous Department of Texas awards to Post 240 and Auxiliary Unit 240 prior to swearing in the 2026 membership year Post and Unit 240 slate of officers. 4th Division Eastern Zone Commander Ray Coffee swore in the following new slate of officers: Commander, Frank Maddy; 1st Vice Commander, Keith Fredrickson; 2d Vice Commander, JJ Conway; Adjutant & Finance Officer, Chris Grantham; Judge Advocate, Curtis Anderson; Service Officer, Lyndsey Merriman; Chaplain, Matt Hallgarth; Historian, Roger Easter; Sergeant-at-Arms, Sid Moon; Members at Large; Willis Moon, Bruce Delater, and Walter Dotson. District 17 Auxiliary President Susan Coffee swore in the following slate of 2025 Unit 240 Officers: President and Historian, Martha Fredrickson; Vice President, Jan Anderson; Treasure, Joanna Lay; Secretary, Julie Littlefield; Chaplain, Patty Cadena; Sgt at Arms, Decie Jones; Executive Committee Members; Carolyn Metts, JoAnn Schulze, and Paula Maness.
