TURNBOW-HIGGS POST 240 HONORS & CELEBRATES POW/MIAHOMECOMING

Stephenville’s Turnbow-Higgs American Legion Post 240 began the 2023 POW/MIA week on Patriot Day, Monday, September 11, honoring and celebrating the homecoming of MIA (Missing In Action) WWII, Army Air Corp Veteran, First Lieutenant Noel Emerson Shoup, and closed the week acknowledging National POW/MIA day Friday, September 15, by remembering the many that remain Missing in Action.

Post 240 Legionnaires; Commander, Keith Fredrickson, Vice Commander Charles Dotson, Auxiliary Unit 240 President, Martha Fredrickson, and Past Commander, Roger Easter were among the hundreds of veterans, friends and family gathered in Greens Creek Baptist Church in Dublin, Texas to honor and celebrate the life of Noel Shoup and to pay their respects to all veterans and active military personnel. Harrell Funeral Home of Dublin, Texas made the funeral arrangements, and the funeral service officiant was USAF Chaplain, Lt Colonel Charles “Chris” Seidlitz, retired, who offered the invocation, eulogy, scripture, and message. Post 240 Commander, Keith Fredrickson and Barksdale AFB, 8th Air Force Lt Colonel offered the benediction by leading the unison singing of the Air Force Song.

The North Texas Patriot Guard escorted remains to interment at Upper Greens Creek Cemetery where USAF Chaplain, Lt Colonel Charles ‘Chris’ Seidlitz, retired, and Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood) Honor guard conducted Full Military Grave side services to include pall bearer, rifle salute, flag folding and NOK (Next of Kin) flag presentation. Tarleton State University bugler presented taps. Patriot guard concluded grave side service service with presentation of Patriot Guard Citations.

 After 79 years, six months and three days, World War II veteran and Dublin graduate Noel Shoup was laid to rest Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, on what would have been his 105th birthday, at Upper Greens Creek Cemetery with full military honors following a service at Greens Creek Baptist Church.
