Monday is Veterans Day, and the Weatherford community will salute its veterans on Saturday morning with a program and parade.

The festivities will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a short program held at the southwest corner of Roo Stadium where various guest speakers will give speeches honoring local veterans.

After that, the annual parade will begin between 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., leaving from the Ninth Grade Center on South Main Street and going north to Oak Street, then turning left onto Alamo Street and going south to Russell Street before ending up back at the NGC.

Air Force and Weatherford Police Department color guards will be on hand and a fly over of a vintage World War II aircraft is planned.

There will also be many floats, entries and dignitaries, all honoring veterans.

Eric Matthews is this year’s Parker County Veterans Parade chairman. The parade is organized by American Legion Post 163.
