For all his work for American Legion Post 163 and area veterans, Chuck Katlic received a street named after him during a Thursday afternoon ceremony.

Chuck Katlic Lane will forever be known as the street that leads off Cartwright Park Road, where the new Legion post is located, to the building itself. Post Commander Bill Mallory said the street name couldn’t happen to a better guy.

“He’s done more for veterans here at the post or actually and veteran in Parker or Palo Pinto county than anyone I know,” Mallory said of Katlic, a World War II and Battle of the Bulge vet. “He’s helped a number of other people as well and has been an inspiration to me.”

Katlic is part of a number of organizations in and around Weatherford, including driving veterans to and from medical appointments. He also chairs the Weatherford Building and Standards Committee, and is a member of others.

Mallory said County Commissioner Craig Peacock was instrumental in getting Katlic his honor. Katlic was grateful for the street in his honor, with a number of fellow Legion members and their families sharing his joy.

“Thanks for thinking of me,” Katlic said. “I appreciate the work the Legion and the (Ladies) Auxiliary has done.

“We’ve got the best Legion in the state and probably the country.”
