PARKER COUNTY — Memorial Day was remembered throughout Parker County Monday with several residents visiting the graves of veterans and placing flags to commemorate their service that helped defend America’s freedom.

Battle of the Bulge veteran and American Legion Post 163 chaplain Chuck Katlic placed the post’s 100,000th Memorial Day flag on the grave of World War II veteran Army Sgt. Stephen Lengel.

Boy Scouts of America and American Heritage Girls Troop 1136 honored those who died in American wars by placing more than 700 flags at three Parker County cemeteries — Weatherford Spring Creek cemetery, the Springtown cemetery and the Veal Station cemetery. Part of the troop also led a trash pick up in the Springtown cemetery.
