They say there’s a time and pace for everything

When it comes to veterans and granting them the respect and appreciation they deserve, Nov. 11 was designated in tribute to men and women who serve in our military.

The day began in 1918, originally called Armistice Day, marking the moment when World War I ended, and guns fell silent at 11 a.m. Nov. 11, that year.

This Saturday, flags will wave, prayers will be said and moments of silence will be observed for the men and women who bravely gave of their freedom to make sure we are entitled to ours.

All veterans will be honored in Weatherford by hosting the Annual Veterans Day Parade down South Main Street beginning at the Ninth Grade Center.

Opening ceremonies begin at 10 a.m., followed by the parade.
