As the Houston County Executive, Mr. George Clark collaborated with Mr. Joe Armstrong (Commissioner,Tennessee Dept. of Veterans Affairs) to enroll the city of Erin/Houston County in the Department of Defense 50th Anniversary of WWII Commemorative Community program. This program honored WWII veterans on the 50th anniversary of the war. On November 7, 1995, the Stewart-Houston County Times reprinted a page from the 1944 Houston County Times "Incomplete" list of the WWII veterans who were living in Houston County when they were inducted into the service.
