Post 42, along with countless other posts around the nation, stepped up to do their part in getting their qualified members nominated for and accepted into the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Many local veterans whose lives were initially disrupted by the call to service for World War I and then devastated by the Great Depression of 1929 - 1939 turned to Towry Post 42 for help. By making recommendations to the CCC, the Post was able to get many veterans out of abject poverty and into jobs. An honest days work for an honest days pay.
