American Legion Post 228 Contributes to West Tennessee Cemetery

July 17, 2013, Post 228 Commander Stephen Clark met with Benton County and West Tennessee American Legion Leaders to contribute a check and pledge for a $500.00 Contribution toward the purchase of property to establish a National Veterans' Cemetery near Parkers' Crossroads Civil War Battle site, at the intersection of Interstate 40 and Tennessee State Highway 22. All donations to this effort will be appreciated, and enhance service to Veterans and their families.

Over the past three years, Post 228 has worked to establish counseling service and enhanced communication with the Tennessee Department of Veterans' Affairs and the Veterans Administration. The Post voted to send its appointed Service Officer to the Service Officers' Training Seminar in Nashville, Tennessee during October 2013. The Post 228 is working to upgrade Benton County's representation of veterans, and service capabilities by meeting with area Veterans at the Post 228 Building in Big..

A Veterans' Service Officer will be on site at the Post 228 Building, in Big Sandy, Tennessee at 9:00 am, to meet area veterans and schedule interviews. Post Service Officer can be contacted and an appointment arranged by either of the following: (1) Veteran leaves a notice for contact at the Service Officer's Mail Box for self or family.
