One tribute to a contemporary member of Post 22 must go to our current adjutant, James W. Howard. Jim, as many of us call him, has been a major reason for the vitality of this post for the past eight years. Under his enthusiastic leadership, the post has grown in membership from 137 in 2008 to well over 200 in 2015. He has not only led in the official capacity as an adjutant, but for four years, 2008 to 2011, he served as the Post Commander. He tirelessly strives to keep the membership involved in a variety of community activities from visitations of our disabled veterans tot he selection of youth for participation in Boys and Girls State and many other events in between.
He helps fill in all the supporting roles that are essential for those community activities to occur. The Post is well represented every year at Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Legion Birthday, and any other relevant activities connected with the Legion. Without an active Auxiliary, he makes sure that Poppies are not forgotten and we remember those fields of crosses among them row by row. I believe his blood must run red, white and blue. He truly understand and demonstrates what Americanism is all about. Ask any Legionnaire in this community who is James "Jim Howard" and they will instantly tell you he is Mr. American Legion. We are honored in Post 22 to have such a leader. How can any one of us in theologian who takes time to get to know Jim not want to "stay involved"?
