William Thomas Stach was born on May 28, 1911 to Joseph John and Mary Agnus Stach in Letcher, South Dakota. He spent his entire life there. Prior to joining the Army, Mr. Stach was self employed as a farmer.
Mr. Stach joined the Army on May 3, 1941, and he was in active service until his death. President Franklin D. Roosevelt posthumously awarded a Purple Heart to Private William Stach for military merit and for wounds received in action, resulting in his death on May 21, 1943 in Attu, Alaska.
I will always remember and appreciate the service and sacrifice Private William Thomas Stach gave in protecting the freedoms of our country.
