Home Post was built in 1951. There is no record of who contractor was. Rumors are that the membership built the building. As funds became available the interior was furnished to include meeting space, kitchen, washrooms/toilets, and the hall. Veblen is an agriculture based community, 15 miles north of State Highway 25, between the dividing line of Britton, and Sisseton SD. Our community celebrated it's centennial in 2000. Small family farms have disappeared, Agra Business is now the new phrase of Multi Million Dollar Co-operations. We lost our High School in 2002, and the grade school closed in the spring of 2009. This is rural America. Schools, Churches, and other community organization are closing because of declining population. Every community is special to the people who live there. We at Post #76 still have our annual "Turkey Night" on the first Saturday of November. (it pays the bills, and brings the community together.) A new venture is a car show we host during the city's annual summer bash. Monthly Meetings are held the 3rd Monday at 8:00 PM.
