The American Legion participated in the grand opening of its namesake, Legion Lake Lodge, in Custer State Park, SD. The completed new lodge building was officially opened Friday, 17 June 2016, with ceremonies which included the American Legion. The program consisted of: Raising of the U.S. and American Legion Flags, National Anthem, Returning of Legion's Plaque, Speakers, Ribbon Cutting. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in the opening of “our” new Legion Lake Lodge. Only in Custer State Park does the American Legion have a lake, lodge, and campground named after it. And those Legionnaires attending were honored to participate, having a great time doing so!
