On Labor Day Custer Post #46 bid farewell to the original Legion Lake Lodge building. Located in Custer State Park the lodge, lake, and campground are named after our American Legion Post which used to lease the land and meet where the lake now exists. The lodge building was the last physical tie to those times. It will be dismantled following closing this fall to make way for a new lodge building.

So with the American Legion flag proudly flying beneath our National Colors, at 11:30 a.m. on Labor Day the Post remembered those times with one last “Open Meeting” to officially and casually mark the passing of its namesake building. Thirty-five Legionnaires and their guests participated. A small program was conducted followed by hor d’oeuvres hosted by the Post. All present thoroughly enjoyed themselves and appreciated the opportunity to see the lodge building "one last time".

It was "Legion's Last Lunch". But with a new lodge, there will be more lunches. And the shared heritage will remain strongly remembered by both Custer Post #46 and Legion Lake Lodge.
