The first meeting of Bryant American Legion Post 37 was held in the Opera House on August 26th, 1919. Charter Members were J. E. Schwendener, F.P. Dunn, Walter Haufle, Jens P. Jensen, Orsted Anderson, Grant Van Schoiac, Clinton Kremer, Rodney 

Rumann, George Jordan, Clayton Bradshaw, C. J. Fox, J. M. Junkins, L. A. Jacobsen, Carl Behrens, Carl Boldt, and Earl Evenson. Dr. J. E. Schwendener was elected as the first Post Commander. The Post met in various locations through the years including, the old Bryant State Bank building, the Bryant Hotel, the Dorcas Hall, the City Hall and the Opera House. The Bryant Legion Post bought the and converted it into their first Post Home in 1940 and in 1983 moved into the former Masonic Temple which is the current Post Home.  WW2 veterans were admitted to membership in April 1942, Korea War veterans in February 1952. Today’s membership includes WW2, Korean, Vietnam, Panama, Persian Gulf, and War on Terror Veterans. The Bryant Legion Post continues to  sponsor Boys State Representatives, a Thanksgiving Poultry Party, and a pancake feed fundraiser and strives to be active in community activities.
