Carl W Potter was born on October 2, 1894, in De Witt, Saline County, NE, to Oscar Leamer Potter and Detta Gay. He was of medium height and medium build, had dark brown hair and blue-gray eyes. By 1909, his family had moved to Kimball, Brule County, SD, where they had a farm. He registered for the WWI draft on June 5, 1917. He died of disease while stationed abroad on October 4, 1918.
