Leon Little Killer was born on April 12, 1912 to Edward Little Killer and Julia Conquering Bear-Quiver in Kadoka, South Dakota.  He married Margaret Randall at Pine Ridge, South Dakota.  They had three children, Deloris, Leona and Franklin, all of Wanblee.  Leon worked at a Civilian Conservation Corps Camp prior to entering the Army.

Leon entered into active service of the Armed Forces on March 18, 1943 at Fort Crook, Nebraska and was transferred to the Enlisted Reserve Corps the same date.  He reported for active duty on March 25, 1943 and left the United States for foreign service on November 7, 1944.  He was sent to France and served as a member of Troop E, 88th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, Mechanized which was a part of the 8th Armored Division.  He lost his life in Reims, France on October 11, 1945.

Leon was survived by his three children who remember him with love and admiration.  His daughter, Delores Standing Soldier, remembers her father:

My father—Leon Little Killer—was a wonderful man.  The brief time I shared with him remained with me for my lifetime.  He taught me patience and encouraged me to live my life to the best of my abilities.  He taught me how to play the harmonica, which I still do today.  Yes, my father was one unique man.
