On the 24th of March,1934 thirty-one discharged service men joined togeather in Bison to sign the charter of the Bison American Legion. They named W. J. Johns the first Commander.
When the Legion Building was first used it was a show hall on Thursday and Sunday nights, then on at least one Saturday a month it was a dance hall. It also was a place to practice basketball, rolliner skating and a barber shop.                   In 1941-42 two World War 1 service men were killed in action. Their names were Rogers and Smith, so the Legion named the Post after them, Roger-Smith American Legion Post #255.                                                                                         In 1980 the Legion members decided that shows, dances, and smokers was not paying out, so they went to the Senior Citizens and asked if they would cobine with the Legion to make a community hall out of it. With a lot of donations, fund raisers, and donated labor they went togeather and made a community hall out of the old buildingcallin it the Bison Community Improvement Corporation.                                                                                                                                           To this day we still have everything from Dart Tournaments, Anniversarys to Legion and Auxillary  Meetings. In the winter the Auxiliary has Bingo on Sundays. It is also where the Senior Citizens eat their meals at noon time during the week.                                                                                                                                                                                                We have a full Color Guard that Posts Colors at the Veterans Day program at the school, go to parades, and do military rites at funerals.
