The Chesterfield County Veterans Day Program was held in Chesterfield on Monday, November 12, 2018. Although the sky was gray and it rained all day, the program was moved into the courthouse building and was enjoyed by everyone. The Chesterfield County Veterans Advisory Council and Mrs. P. Mills and her staff from the Veterans Office planned the following program. The program was opened by Commander Hough, Chair of the Chesterfield County Veterans Advisory Council. Colors were posted by Cheraw High School JROTC under the guidance of Gy SGT Henry. The Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag was led by Immediate-Past American Legion Post 74 Commander Griffith. The National Anthem was beautifully sung by Mrs. M. White. Dr. W. White, pastor of Godman Creek Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC, gave the Invocation. Central High School Band, under the direction of Mr. J. Mack played a medley of patriotic music, and the Hospice of Chesterfield County Choir sang a number of patriotic songs. Commander Hough introduced the speaker, Rev. Howard Rogers who is a Vietnam War Era veterans and Purple Star recipient. Several area dignitaries were in attendance and included Mayor Billy Cassidy, Probate Judge Ingram, and Representative Richie Yow.
