Each year on Memorial Day, Post 28 (along with other veterans' groups) participates in two events. The first is a ceremony at the Duncan Park Veterans' Memorial. On the granite slabs of this memorial are the names of all the young men from Spartanburg County who died while in military service beginning with World War I to the present. Flags are posted; the POW ceremony is observed; prayers are said; wreaths are laid; and the names of all 641 men are read aloud. That evening at the University of South Carolina Upstate campus, the Spartanburg Community Band plays their patriotic concert. Post 28's Honor Guard participates by posting colors and completing a gun salute. The pictures in this album are from 2010.
