On Saturday 25 May 2019 during Memorial Day Weekend, Legionnaires from the Colonel Lewis L. Millet Post 38, South Korea attended and participated in the Memorial Day Ceremony at Yangwajin Foreigner’s Cemetery (Seoul Foreigners’ Cemetery) to pay homage to 26 American Veterans buried at the cemetery. The visit was led by William Wight, Commander of American Legion Post 38 . During this year’s visit, the Legionnaires were joined by numerous Active duty Soldiers, Korean and American Veterans, Freedom is Not Free Society, Seoul High School ROTC, and Scouts from Troop 80 and 82 of the Boy Scouts of America.. During the ceremony, William Wight, Post 38 Commander in his speech reminded us to never forget those who gave their lives for the freedoms we take for granted. Post 38 Chaplain Timothy Lane led the attendees in prayers. During the visit to the grave sites of the 26 known American Veterans, their graves were cleaned. US Flags were placed on grave sites of the American Veterans. Ceremonies were conducted at three different areas of the cemetery which included a prayer, the playing of Taps and salutes to the fallen Veterans.
