Above the American Legion Post 223 fire a 21 gun salute to fallen comrades during the annual Memorial Day observances at Locust Grove Cemetery. On the right, World 11 Veteran Sam Reed places the names of servicemen and servicewomen who died in the past year in a helmet at Spring Hill Cemetery where they were later burned in a ceremony. Below, Frances Helm, left and Cathy Jo Reinsmith place a wreath at the Spring Hill Cemetery gravesite of William G. Ashwell, a local soldier killed in World War 1.
