Bruce L. Cramer the last WW1 Veteran from Shippensburg dies at the age of 96. Bruce also known as "Jimmy" to his friends enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1916, Was mustered into federal service with his unit in July of that year, and finally became a part of the 112th Regiment of the famous 28th Division upon its reorganization, and shipped overseas in may 1918. Bruce was involved in a number of campaigns in the fierce fighting in France, the Chanpagne-Marne defensive, the Aisne-Marne offensive and the Oise-Aisne offensive and was taken prisoner by the Germans in that action. After the war Bruce returned to Shippensburg and became a part of the guard force at Letterkenny Army Depot from which he retired. Bruce was a founding member of the Shippensburg Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223 and the Shippensburg VFW Post 6168.
