A donation of $200.00 was given to the Shippensburg Youth Basketball association and $25.00 to the Department Headquarters for Operation Santa Claus Fund.
Jr High school classroom flags were purchased by the post at a cost of $73.80.
The American Legion Funeral Fund was Re-named the American Legion Post 223 Memorial Fund.
A Death Benefit of $150.00 was paid to the beneficiary of Andrew Frey.
February 2, 1989
A donation of $263.00 was made to the Shippensburg Police Department for the Grade school drug Program. Three local girls were given $25.00 each for heroic deeds. Death Benefit in the amount of $150.00 was paid to the beneficiary of Raymond Sites.
April 6, 1989
The proposed budget of $2635.00 for the Jr. American legion Baseball Team was approved. 500 small flags were purchased by the post for the Shippensburg Community Center for their 4th of July celebration.
May 4, 1989
Death Benefits of $150.00 each was paid to the beneficiaries of Lewis Ludwig and Hugh Richardson. $260.00 was donated to the Girls Softball Team.
June 1, 1989
It was approved that $1.00 per member would be put into the Memorial Fund. A donation of $165.00 was given to the Shippensburg Trash Containers Committee and a Death Benefit of $150.00 each was paid to the beneficiaries of D. Fuller and James Reddig.
