The post will again sponsor the Scotland School Spring Dance which will be held Friday March 13, 1970 with the Phil Young Orchestra.
February, 1970
A committee was formed to construct a float for the parades. The committee consisted of Lee Myers Jr. as chairman, Charles Koontz, Ambrose Naugle, William Ramsey and Tommy Everett.
Death Benefit of $100.00 was paid to the beneficiary of Harry Shellahamer.
A donation was made in the amount $392.11 to the Junior American Legion Baseball Team for 1970.
Swimming contest committee was appointed by Commander Koontz. Donald Shearer chairman, and Ambrose Naugle.

Essay Contest winners: 1st place prize $25.00 war Bond to Richard Smith and 2nd place prize $10.00 to Joann Powell.

It was announced that the Graduation of Scotland School will be Saturday June 6, 1970.

$100.00 was donated to the Veterans Council for costs of the Memorial Day Parade.
Installation of officers will be held 17 September 1970.
Post 223 donated $500.00 to the fund raising drive of the Shippensburg Community Center.. Tom Everett and Eugene Koontz presented the check to Harold Bishop, a member of the Community Center Board.
August, 1970
Death Benefits $100.00 each be paid to the beneficiary's of Earl Suders and earl Mickey.
H.M. Shank gave his report on Letterkenny aiding with Military Funerals,and read the letter received by George Dansberger, expressing his regrets that neither Letterkenny Personnel could not be granted annual leave to employees participating in Military Funerals and that the Military Personnel could not help either. Our only hope for help, Mr. Shank stated will have to come from Carlisle Barracks or Camp located near Waynesboro.

Commander Thomas Payne made a presentation to Hugh A. Goyt a recent graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police School and a member of the Oscar M. Hykes Post American Legion, he was presented a plaque for successfully completing his study at the police school.

Five radio spots were purchased from WSHP for Veterans Day November 11, 1970.
November, 1970
Veterans Day Parade was held November 11, 1970 at 8:00 PM.
December, 1970
Tommy Everett gave the lineup of the Christmas Party for the Children of Scotland School from Cumberland County on Saturday December 5, 1970. The children will arrive by bus from Scotland at 1:15 P.M. and leave the Post Home after refreshment at the Victory Theater where they will see "The Sleeping Princess", at 4:00 P.M. they will form in front of the theater and receive their spending money and be taken on a shopping trip until 5:00 P.M. then they will return to the Post Home for a turkey dinner and entertainment until 6:00 P.M., When the bus will return them back to the school.
Post 223 sent a thank you letter to Mr. Johnson of Murphy's Department Store for his donation of 20 pounds of candy for the Children of Scotland School.
